Molecular Diagnostics

Molecular Diagnostics is an IQMH Accredited Esoteric section of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Molecular Diagnostics is a cross discipline of Hematopathology, Clinical Chemistry and Anatomical Pathology with all testing performed on the 5th floor of the Mackenzie building at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Center.

Molecular Diagnostics employs techniques such as PCR, FISH and next generation sequencing to test a variety of specimens.  The testing aids physicians in the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of various types of cancer, as well as the detection of some inherited mutations.
