Hematopathology

The Division of Hematopathology incorporates laboratories and Point-of-Care testing at 8 sites within NSHA Central Zone. The sites include laboratories located in Cobequid Community Health Centre, Dartmouth General Hospital, Hants Community Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, and the Halifax Infirmary. Point-of-Care testing is available at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital, Hants Community Hospital, and Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital. The Division offers Core lab services: routine Hematology (CBC, body fluid counts, malaria screening) and Coagulation (INR, aPTT, d-dimer and Fibrinogen). Esoteric Services are offered at the Victoria General site and include: Microscopy (peripheral blood and bone marrows), Advanced Coagulation, Histocompatibility testing (HLA), Immunology (hemoglobin investigations), Molecular Diagnostics and Flow Cytometry.
