Having a Baby

Congratulations on your new role and welcome to motherhood (or fatherhood)! It comes naturally for some, more slowly for others. Public Health offers services to women of childbearing years and their families, newborns, infants and young children. All of our services are voluntary, free and confidential.

Free Prenatal Classes - Welcome to Parenting

The Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness has launched Welcome to Parenting a free, online tool available for anyone in Nova Scotia having a baby. Welcome to Parenting contains all of the information discussed in prenatal classes, and much more, all available at your finger tips. It’s also an online community where first time moms and dads can chat and share together.

As more new parents move online, we will be discontinuing our in-person prenatal classes. Classes 1 and 2 will continue in-person until Sept. 30, 2014. Classes 3, 4 and 5 will continue in-person until the end of December 2014.

Class 3: Breastfeeding
Class 4 & 5: Labour and delivery* (held at the IWK)
