Reduce Your Risk
You can take steps at any age to keep your blood pressure numbers normal.
In addition to regular monitoring of your blood pressure – or “knowing your numbers” you can reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure by:
- being more active,
- eating healthy foods (more fresh vegetables and fruit),
- losing weight if you are overweight,
- not smoking,
- managing stress,
- limiting alcohol,
- decreasing your intake of salt (sodium) and foods high in salt.
