Queen Elizabeth II Health Science Centre

The QEII is the regions main teaching hospital and is a hub of research and innovation. It also provides medical and surgical care to residents of the Capital Health District as well as specialist care to adults from across the Maritimes.

At the QEII, volunteers can choose from a wide range of experiences.

Lend a Hand

Volunteers interested in interacting directly with patients and clients, you can help enhancing their hospital experience by:

  • Providing meal assistance
  • Encouraging patients and residents during exercise programs,
  • Visiting
  • Information and directions
  • Bringing refreshments and hospitality to out-patient clinics

You may also be interested in supporting our staff in a variety of recreation programs that include direct patient or Veteran contact in one-to-one companionship programs, small group activities, musical entertainment or pet visitation.

Retail

If you are skilled in providing excellent customer service you may be interested in helping with one of the QEII’s two gift shops.

Affiliate Programs

Our affiliate programs offer volunteers the opportunity to provide emotional support to patients and families based on their own experience. Some of these programs include:

  • Open Heart Patient Support
  • United Ostomy Association
  • Look Good Feel Better

Administration

Volunteers can provide support to staff by assisting in administrative projects such as

  • Mail outs
  • Filing
  • Research
  • Call reminders
