Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear Medicine is a branch of Diagnostic Imaging that uses medical isotopes in the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of medical conditions and disorders. Nuclear Medicine procedures are non-invasive. Procedures may take as little as thirty minutes or several hours on the same day and may require more than one visit.
When you come for your test it is best if you do the following:
- Wear warm comfortable clothing without buttons or zippers
- Leave all jewelry that you can at home
- Empty pockets
- Wear footwear that is easy to get on and off
- Bring a warm sweater without buttons or zippers in case it is cold
All Nuclear Medicine tests except C14 Urea Breath Tests require an appointment. Patients for a C14 Urea Breath Test must have a requisition completed by their family or referring physician before the procedure can be done. A completed requisition must include the exam requested, patient history, physician’s signature and physician’s office telephone number.
