Events & Initiatives

The Diabetes Care Program of Nova Scotia (DCPNS) often hosts either a provincial conference or a number of regional workshops and/or Telehealth sessions. These conferences/workshops provide the ideal venue to promote knowledge transfer with the help of recognized content experts, profile current and planned DCPNS initiatives, encourage networking and sharing of new/innovative practice (often the outcome of DCPNS grant activities), and obtain direct input into issues that require decision and local action.
In 2011 and 2016, the DCPNS celebrated its 20th and 25th anniversaries, respectively, as a provincial program and used this time to acknowledge the many individuals and organizations that have contributed to our successes, both provincially and nationally. Recognition awards introduced in 2011 were offered in 2016 through a peer-nomination process.
Over the years, the DCPNS has embarked on a number of initiatives—some under the direction of subcommittees or working groups and others as the lead or collaborative partner in a special project or applied research endeavour. These initiatives have resulted in a vast network that reaches out and touches all aspects of diabetes prevention and management. In conjunction with our valued partners, we have produced innumerable products that span from guidelines, forms, and policies/ procedures, to tools for providers, persons with diabetes, and the general public. These products can be found in more detail under “Guidelines and Resources”.
