How to become a Community Health Board Member: (Two openings are currently available.)

• Contact the CHB Coordinator to discuss the work of the CHB
• Provide a written statement of your interest in joining the board along with a copy of your resume
• You will receive confirmation from the CHB Coordinator and the Board Selection Committee will arrange a time to meet with you for an interview. The interview committee is made up of past CHB members and community representatives who have an understanding of the work of the CHB
• Following the interview you will be notified with the results of the interview
• Successful candidates will meet with the Coordinator prior to the first CHB meeting to go over the Orientation Binder

Time Commitment for CHB Members:

• CHB Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month (September through June). If a second meeting is required it is usually held the 4th Wednesday of the month
• All business meetings are held in the Board room of Hants Community Hospital. Supper is provided at 5:30pm followed by the meeting from 6:00pm to 8:00pm
• Members are provided with educational opportunities throughout the year and are encouraged to attend other join meetings held within the district. (three to five meetings per year)
• All volunteers are reimbursed for out of pocket expenses (i.e. travel)
• A great deal of board business can be done through e-mail and we hope all members are comfortable with this type of communication
