Flu Season 2011-2012
Influenza
The seasonal influenza (flu) vaccine is free for all Nova Scotians this year (2011-2012) - not just high-risk groups. This vaccine will protect against three strains of the seasonal influenza that are predicted to circulate this season, including H1N1.
Where to get your flu shot
In the Capital Health district, flu vaccine will be widely available in family practices and walk-in clinics, at long-term care facilities and through many large employers. If your workplace does not have a flu clinic planned, please contact your family doctor or a walk-in clinic nearest you to book an appointment.
To find a family doctor or a walk-in clinic near you, call 811 or visit the Doctors Nova Scotia website.
If you are able to visit your family doctor or walk-in clinic, we highly encourage you to do so.
For more information about the flu vaccine visit the Government of Nova Scotia Communicable Disease Prevention and Control website.
Information for health professionals
There are important changes to this year's recommendations regarding dosages for children and for those with egg allergies. For more information, as well as additional resources for health professionals, visit the Government of Nova Scotia Communicable Disease Prevention and Control website.
