Information Sessions

Friday, July 18, prideHealth, in partnership with the Gender and Health Promotions Unit of Dalhousie University, presented Pathways to GLBT Health. This was a presentation about an innovative research project that is currently underway to develop a Nova Scotia specific tool to measure the health of the GLBTIQ population in Nova Scotia.

Monday, July 21, prideHealth moderated a panel of GLBTIQ community members at the IWK Health Centre. We are family. We are queer family. Toward greater inclusion for better health outcomes was a panel of queer family members who shared and explored what queer family is and the importance of expanding our views of family to provide the best care possible.

Tuesday, July 22, Cybelle Rieber, prideHealth coordinator, was part of the Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project’s Time OUT Lecture: Spectrum of Trans Identities - A Panel discussion on transidentity at the Spring Garden Road Public Library.

Pride Parade

Saturday, July 26, prideHealth hosted a booth on the Halifax Pride Festival Grounds after the parade. This booth brought health to pride with the GLBTIQ wheel of wellness, an interactive GLBTIQ Nova Scotia map, and lots of information. This booth was visited by hundreds of people throughout the day.

Pride Family Picnic

Sunday, July 27, prideHelath hosted a table at the Halifax Pride Family Picnic. Again, the GLBTIQ wheel of wellness was spinning all day with lots of kids and families enjoying the last day of pride in the beautiful Dartmouth Commons.
