Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech Centres

The Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech Centres is a multi-facility, accredited program that provides speech and hearing services; Audiological services are provided to people of all ages while Speech-Language Pathology services are provided to preschool and adult Nova Scotians across the province. All clinical staff are certified members of the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. The NSHSC is a non-profit agency funded primarily by the Nova Scotia Department of Health and is affiliated with the School of Human Communication Disorders, Dalhousie University. Standards of clinical practice are developed and monitored through formal provincial Quality Assurance Programs. This ensures consistent high quality provision of services across all Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech Centres.

There are 29 sites of the NSHSC across the province (visit our website for a complete listing of NSHSC sites). Within HRM, there are 9 clinics, providing both inpatient and outpatient care. Medical referral is often not required except for hospital inpatients and some special programs.
