40-foot industrial washer was installed in 2002

As part of the upgrade in 2002, a new continuous batch washer (pictured in the background) or “tunnel washer” was installed. This massive piece of equipment – which has 16 separate wash compartments and measures approximately 40 feet long – is highly energy efficient and produces low levels of waste water. It can process 125 pounds of linens every 90 seconds. It uses only 7/10th a gallon of water for every pound of laundry, compared to a conventional home washer, which uses 3 gallons of water.
