Ken Baird to Chair Laboratory Medicine & Diagnostic Imaging Strategy

A message from Bruce Quigley, CEO, Cumberland Health and Anne McGuire, President and CEO, IWK Health Centre.

The Council of CEOs and the Deputy Minister of Health have jointly agreed to move forward on an initiative that will facilitate the creation of a provincially-focused strategic direction for the provision of quality Laboratory Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging services in Nova Scotia.

The Objectives of the Project are:

Bring a provincial perspective to Diagnostic Imaging and Pathology/Laboratory Medicine improvement strategies and priorities; Facilitate the building of capacity and expertise for high quality and safe Diagnostic Imaging and Pathology/Laboratory Medicine services; Support and enable District Health Authorities and the IWK in their continuous efforts to provide high quality delivery of services through provincial coordination of Diagnostic Imaging and Pathology/Laboratory Medicine; Facilitate health system transparency and accountability to patients and the public for Diagnostic Imaging and Pathology/Laboratory Medicine in Nova Scotia, and; Serve as an informed reference body related to the emerging best/leading practices in the organization and delivery of Diagnostic Imaging and Pathology/Laboratory Medicine.

We are pleased to jointly announce that Ken Baird has agreed to lead the provincial initiative.   Ken will be seconded to the position from his current responsibilities as Vice President, Person Centred Health at Capital Health. 

Ken will be undertaking his new endeavour in partnership with Executive Sponsors Anne McGuire, President and CEO of the IWK Health Centre, Bruce Quigley, CEO of Cumberland Health, and Kevin McNamara, Deputy Minister of Health.
