Thursday, May 23, 2013 - 9:35am

Family physicians and staff from the District Department of Family Practice and Primary Health Care attended their annual spring dinner meeting Wednesday, May 22.

Guest speakers, Dr. Gus Grant, Registrar & CEO, College or Physicians and Surgeons and Stewart Gray, Director of IT, Doctors Nova Scotia discussed electronic medical records and the Personal Health Information Act.

The District Department of Family Practice  (DDFP) is a platform for the voice of Capital Health's 450 Family Physicians and their patients. This is a network of family physicians who are developing quality improvement skills and knowledge they can then roll out to colleagues across the district. By developing networks in the health care community we are building multidisciplinary teams to explore the delivery of patient care and the role of the Family Physician.

Some of the areas we are currently exploring include:

  • Minor procedures
  • Long term care
  • Specialist referrals
  • Orthopedics
  • Diagnostic imaging
