Congratulations are in order for Dr. Brendan Carr.

Congratulations are in order.  Dr. Brendan Carr has accepted the role of Executive Vice-President and Chief Medical Officer for Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) an organization of 18,000 health professionals serving the needs of 765,000 people on Vancouver Island, the islands of the Georgia Strait, and some mainland communities.

Brendan begins his new role effective March 26, 2012.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for Brendan, and we are thrilled for him, and his family. For the first year, Brendan will spend three out of four weeks on Vancouver Island and the fourth week working remotely from Halifax.  This will allow time for his family to achieve various milestones in their schooling, and time for Brendan and Caroline to transition the family to a new home in Victoria.

The team at VIHA is delighted to have wooed Brendan to the west coast. They are looking forward to reaping the benefits of his visionary leadership and focus on person-centred care - just a few of the characteristics that Brendan attributes to the learning and experience he has developed during his time at Capital Health.

At this time, no decision has been made about the future role of VP Medicine at Capital Health. We will share next steps with you as soon as possible.

In the meantime, please join us in wishing Dr. Brendan Carr every success in his new role.  We applaud VIHA for their ability to recognize talent, leadership and commitment to shaping the future of health.

Warm regards,

Paula Bond
