Capital Health's first Long Term Care Conference draws professionals from across Atlantic Canada

Wednesday, November 9, 2011 - 5:38pm

More than 200 people from across the Atlantic Provinces attended Capital Health’s first ever Long Term Care Conference last week.

On Nov. 4, the Ramada Park Place hotel in Dartmouth was packed with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, long term care facility administrators, physiotherapists, social workers and other health care professionals interested in learning and sharing information about key issues in today’s long-term care sector.

And they were not disappointed! Following opening remarks from Ruby Knowles, the Executive Director of Continuing Care at the N.S. Department of Health and Wellness, attendees learned about Pain Management, Palliative Care, Challenging Behaviours, and Care by Design.

“They were really informative and entertaining presentations,” said Brenda MacIsaac, a Community Care Coordinator with Capital Health. “The information about Palliative Care and Pain Management was especially pertinent to my work at Continuing Care.”

Thank you to our speakers and everyone who attended! Planning is already underway for next year's conference.
