To prepare for your health needs please note the following holiday service changes:

Blood collection services

Most Capital Health blood collection services will close at noon Dec. 24 and re-open for regularly scheduled hours Dec. 27.

Exceptions are blood collection at:

  • Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital - Closes Dec. 24 at 11:30 a.m.
  • Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital - Closes Dec. 24 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Eastern Shore Memorial Hospital - Closes Dec. 24 at 11:00 a.m.
  • Hants Community Hospital - Closes Dec. 24 at 11:00 a.m.
  • Mt. Uniacke Blood Collection is closed from Dec. 20 to Jan. 1 inclusive.
  • St. Margaret’s Bay Blood Collection is closed from Dec. 24 through Jan. 1.

All blood collection clinics are closed Jan. 1.

Walk-in x-ray services

Walk-in x-ray services at all sites will be closed from Dec. 24 at noon through Jan. 2. The one exception is Musquodoboit Valley, where x-ray services will be open Dec. 27, 28 and 31.

If you have urgent blood collection or x-ray needs, please contact your family doctor.

Community clinics and services

  • Community Health Teams (Dartmouth and Spryfield) will be closed Dec. 24 at noon, Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
  • Dalhousie Family Medicine Clinics (Spryfield and Mumford Rd. sites) will be closed Dec. 24 at noon, Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
  • Diabetes Management Centres (Bayers Rd., Cobequid, Dartmouth General Hospital) will be closed from Dec. 21 at 4:00 p.m. to Jan. 3 at 8:00 a.m.
  • The Integrated Chronic Care Service in Fall River will be closed from Dec. 24 at noon to Jan. 2 at 8:30 a.m.
  • prideHealth’s clinical nurse specialist will be unavailable from Dec. 21 at 4:00 p.m. to Jan. 7 at 9:00 a.m.

Capital Health reminds you to anticipate your health needs in advance of the holidays:

  • Ensure your prescriptions are filled.
  • Do not over-exert yourself shovelling snow.
  • Enjoy holiday cheer in moderation.
  • If you have a chronic medical condition, anticipate your needs and have them taken care of in advance.
