Capital Health celebrates Acadian Day

The Acadian flag flew Thursday, August 15 as Capital Health celebrated La Fête Nationale de l’Acadie or Acadian Day. The event was hosted by Interpretation & French Language Services .

Events included an information booth in the Victoria General cafeteria and Acadian cuisine featuring Rappie Pie and Fricot in cafeterias throughout the QEII.

Acadian fiddler Renee Doucet and guitarist Louis Benoit entertained staff, patients and visitors on the VG lawn followed by a celebration of music, culture and gateau in the Bethune Ballroom. 

National Acadian Day was introduced in 1881 during the first National Convention of the Acadians in Memramcook, New Brunswick and is a celebration of the cultural vitality and enduring heritage of the Acadian people.
