Bicycle thefts on the rise

Monday, August 19, 2013 - 3:20pm

The Halifax Regional Police (HRP) are advising Capital Health staff and visitors at the QEII Health Sciences Centre about a number of bicycle thefts in the area.

Over the last two weeks, HRP says bikes have been stolen from the Victoria General site, the IWK Health Centre and Dalhousie University.

Police remind all cyclists of the following:

  • Keep all bikes locked properly (strong locks; locked to fixed objects)
  • Keep note of the full details of your bicycle, including serial number, make, model, colour and speed
  • Report all thefts to security

Capital Health staff and patients should notify Security of any thefts:

Victoria General site Security - (902) 473-4894

Halifax Infirmary Security - (902) 473-2230
