Access restricted to service corridor at Halifax Infirmary site to protect staff safety

Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - 1:03pm

Effective immediately, access is restricted to the service area/corridor connecting the Abbie J. Lane, Camp Hill Veterans Memorial building and Halifax Infirmary building. We ask that only those who work or have storage spaces located in the service area (S1) use this area.

As you know, heavy equipment and tow motors are used frequently in this area to transport goods. The area is being restricted for safety reasons after a number of close calls between staff and heavy equipment.

We are asking all staff to take alternate routes for their own safety and to prevent a catastrophic incident from occurring. Please obey the posted signage explaining the restricted access. Security will be ensuring only authorized personnel are in the area.

The connecting hallways above the service corridor provide access to areas such as the pharmacy, restaurants, meeting rooms, lobbies, client/patient rooms, and other services.

Should you have any questions please contact the Joint Occupational Health and Safety member in your area.

Thank you for your commitment to health and safety for yourself and your co-workers.
