Student Placements

Capital Health works closely with Dalhousie University, the Nova Scotia Community College and other academic institutions across Canada to find both unpaid clinical and non-clinical placements for students. We also accept employees from other organizations for expertise sharing and competency maintenance experiences.

How do I request a placement at Capital Health?

Capital Health uses the Health Sciences Placement Network (HSPNet) to streamline and improve our communication and coordination with students and organizations. To request a placement you will need to complete the Placement Request Form and Consent Form for Use and Disclosure of Personal Information to HSPNet. You can then email the request form to Rondalyn MacNutt, our administrative assistant. To protect your personal information you can send us the disclosure form via our confidential fax or snail mail. Please include any additional information including resumes, program objectives, evaluation tools and personal learning objectives as attachments. We will then mail you a placement agreement to be filled out prior to your placement.

Requests for placement in Capital Health must come from an authority of the eduational or health care agency along with program objectives and student learning outcomes.  This shared information enables us to match the student(s) with a preceptor knowledgeable in the subject matter and aware of the student(s)' learning needs and ensures a successful and meaningful learning experience.

The agency must be willing to sign a standard Affiliation Agreement with Capital Health and will be asked to confirm in writing that the student(s) comply with the Capital Health CH 100-026 Pre-placement Immunization Requirements and Criminal Record Check (including vulnerable sector search).
