Diving Into Clinical Trials-Sink or Swim

Health care professionals who are new to clinical trials research involving unapproved medications are faced with standards and regulations that they have not previously encountered. Health Canada requires that there is compliance by research teams with these standards and regulations. Historically, there has been little formal education to prepare new research coordinators and assist with their transition from clinical practice to clinical research. This course bridges the gap and responds to the need for education.

  • This two-day workshop focuses on the practical application of Health Canada’s Regulations and Standards for the conduct of research. This session is intended for research staff who will be working on research specifically involving medications and/or natural health products
  • This workshop is a requirement for research coordinators new to Capital Health, but registrants have included health professionals interested in learning more about the role of the research coordinators and coordinators or investigators outside of Capital Health
  • On occasion this workshop has been held at other Canadian sites. Please contact the Program Manager for additional details
  • A combination of lecture and group activities allow participants to practically apply what they have learned
  • It is one of the most popular courses offered and over 250 individuals have been trained since 2003
