Interpreter Services
As part of Our Promise to become a world-leading haven for people-centred health, healing and learning, Capital Health provides patients, clients and their families who have a language barrier free access to:
- Telephone interpretation - Language Line
- Face-to-face interpretation - Nova Scotia Interpreting Services
- Mi’kmaq Interpreter’s Liaison Program - The Confederacy of Mainland Mi'kmaq
- Sign language - Society of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Nova Scotia
- Translated Different Languages Versions of the Canadian Food Guide
The interpretation strategy addresses the questions of patient safety, equitable access, risk management, cost effectiveness, inclusion and quality patient care.
If you are booking an appointment, we recommend that you ask for interpretation services in advance . . . or if you are already an inpatient, then speak with any member of your healthcare team for assistances. Print our "Language Identidication Card" to bring to your appointment or inpatient stay.
