Quality in Practice

Every day, you and your office team work hard to provide safe, effective and efficient care for your patients, which can be challenging in our increasingly complex and changing care environment.

A focus on quality improvement (QI) is critical to maintaining and improving the quality of the care that you provide without compromising your work life balance. Unfortunately, most of us were never trained in quality improvement techniques and all of us find it hard to make changes, even when they can make things better.

Quality in Practice

To help you with this, the District Department of Family Practice and Primary Health Care are pleased to announce Quality in PracticeQiP, which will support your practice with quality improvement and change (at your own pace).

QiP includes access to:

  • Valuable online tools and resources related to QI and chronic disease prevention and management
  • Free membership to the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School, which offers online QI and patient safety education as well as access to international QI communities
  • Educational opportunities, webinars and workshops
  • A practice facilitator to guide you through a structured QI journey

Getting Started with Quality in Practice

To learn more, receive access to IHI Open School or to meet with a practice facilitator to talk about how QiP can best support your practice, contact the District Department of Family Practice.

Activities related to participation in QiP may be eligible for Continuing Professional Development credits. Refer to the College of Family Physicians of Canada's MAINPRO program for further information.
