Physical Activity Toolkit

The Diabetes Care Program of Nova Scotia (DCPNS) worked closely with Drs. Jonathon Fowles and Chris Shields as well as other team members from the Department of Recreation Management and Kinesiology, Acadia University, in the development and deployment of the Diabetes Physical Activity and Exercise Toolkit in Nova Scotia. This partnership helped the Toolkit evolve to meet the needs of an array of providers interested in diabetes and its management. The Toolkit was rolled out in the other Maritime Provinces and received great interest from across Canada.

In 2012, the copyright was granted to Diabetes Canada (formerly the Canadian Diabetes Association). The Building Competency in Diabetes Education: Physical Activity and Exercise Professional Resource Manual has been available ever since through this organization.
