The Daily Review is published Monday to Friday excluding holidays. This information is gathered as of 10 a.m. on the date shown. These reports are time sensitive and do not reflect subsequent activity throughout the day. Weekend figures are updated on Monday’s report. Cells left blank indicate that information was unavailable at the time of posting. Shaded cells indicate that the information does not apply to a particular facility, for example, the Cobequid Community Health Centre has no inpatient beds and does not perform any surgical services.

Definitions:
ER visits
: Patients who need medical treatment and who may or may not need to be admitted.
PACU
: Post anaesthetic care unit or recovery room.
Inpatient Admission
: Patients who are assigned to beds in a nursing unit within the hospital.
Inpatient Surgery
: Surgery performed on patients already admitted to hospital.
Outpatient Surgery
: Often called day surgery. These are patients who do not need to be admitted to a hospital bed and can go home to recover.
Same-day Surgery
: Patients who are admitted for scheduled surgery and who can be admitted on the day their surgery takes place.
ICU/Critical Care
: Intensive Care unit or Critical Care unit.
LifeFlight
: Medical air transport operated by Emergency Health Services.
Cancelled surgeries:
Surgery that has been cancelled for reasons such as: physician availability, lack of time, weather conditions or emergency situations.
Patients awaiting transfers
: Patients who are occupying a hospital bed and who are waiting to be transferred to a hospital in their own community or to a long-term care facility.
Assessments for Long-term Care: The process for applying for long-term care. Once a patient’s application is approved, they remain on a waitlist until a bed becomes available.
Inpatient Separations
: Patients who are discharged or are no longer under the care of the hospital.
