Capital Health is one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. In its announcement today, Thursday, October 8, Mediacorp noted that Capital Health made the Top 100 list because of its strong commitment to employee wellness, noting in particular its healthy cafeteria options. Capital Health was selected from a field of 2,600 organizations that each completed a detailed application process.
“I’m thrilled that we are receiving this prestigious recognition. Great people work at Capital Health. We know that and now the country does too,” said CEO Chris Power. “The award also illustrates how we are successfully reaching our goal of being a world-leading haven of people-centred health, healing and learning,”
Mediacorp also chose Capital Health for offering benefits such as helping employees save for retirement with contributions to a defined benefit pension plan; supporting employees who are new mothers, fathers or adoptive parents with generous parental leave top-up payments; managing a variety of flexible work options including variable scheduling, telecommuting and phased-in retirement work options for older employees.
In its release, Mediacorp noted that Canadian employers are “returning in droves” to the values of stability and continuity as expressed in the kinds of workplace programs offer. “. . . Flashy extras (are) taking a back-seat to traditional benefits that make a real difference in the live of working Canadians,” said Richard Yerema, Managing Editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project.
Capital Health was graded on eight key areas: Work Atmosphere & Social; Health, Financial & Family Benefits; Vacation & Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; Community Involvement; and Physical Workplace.
The full report is contained in editorial features this week in Maclean’s magazine and The Globe and Mail. Editorial highlights from Reasons for Selection are also published on Eluta.ca, a job search engine.
