Wednesday, September 1 - Thursday, September 30, 2010 - Canada World Youth in Halifax. In September 2010 Halifax will become host to 18 Canada World Youth volunteers from Indonesia and across Canada. Take part in this exciting program and help create the experience of a lifetime for two young volunteers. Be part of this global experience by being a Host Family for two Canada World Youth volunteers - 1 from Canada, 1 from Indonesia. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 (deadline to apply) - The Capital Health Research Fund is now accepting applications for the September 2010 Research Fund competition. This fund supports original research conducted at Capital Health in the form of operating and equipment grants. It also may be used to support projects to improve research infrastructure at Capital Health. Deadline for applications is September 15 at 4:00pm. Saturday, September 11 to Sunday, September 12 - Blood and Beyond: Issues in Obstetrics and Gynecology Conference. The aim of the conference is to provide healthcare professionals with education in the area of blood management specific to the practice of obstetrics and gynecology. This one and a half day meeting is open to healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and lab technologists from multiple disciplines. Thursday, September 16 to Saturday, September 18 - The 6th Atlantic Canada Stroke Conference. The theme is Advances in Stroke Care. The deadline for poster abstract submissions is Thursday, August 12.

The Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation, in collaboration with the Canadian Coalition for Seniors' Mental Health, presents the 9th Annual Kathryn Allen Weldon Public Lecture. Why do people with Alzheimer’s disease have good days and bad days? What does it tell us that we don’t already know? Presented by Kenneth Rockwood, MD, FRCPC, FRCP Kathryn Allen Weldon Professor of Alzheimer Research, Dalhousie University.
