Multi-Organ Transplant Program (MOTP)Print Page | Return to Previous Page

Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Multi-Organ Transplant Program at the QEII Health Sciences Centre serves the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. This Program provides kidney, liver, heart, and pancreas transplantation services. A Regional Tissue Bank, also located at the hospital, retrieves and distributes donated tissue.

As a transplantation centre, our program also works collaboratively with the Critical Care Organ program and the Provincial Organ and Tissue donation programs located in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland to support organ and tissue donation.

In addition to providing patient services, MOTP plays an integral role in professional and community education. These education activities take many forms, from educating community groups and nursing students to long-term strategic planning and program development.

The goal of the MOTP is to create a multidisciplinary organization consisting of two pillars, clinical and science, dedicated to serve the patients, educate the next generation and develop, direct and translate new therapeutic strategies for the future.

Ensuring that Atlantic Canadians have equitable and appropriate access to transplantation services and also continue to improve patient care and the success of transplantation.
