The Capital Health Eating Disorder Clinic is dedicated to helping people overcome anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. (The clinic does not provide services for other eating problems such as binge-eating disorder). The treatment program has been designed to offer a variety of treatment options through a series of outpatient groups that address a variety of concerns associated with eating disorders. Groups include meal experiences with patients such as snacks, breakfasts, lunches, and suppers. In addition, a variety of skills groups such as assertiveness, coping, and body image, help patients develop healthier and more effective skills in each of these areas. Therapy groups address self-esteem and relational issues and help patients gain insight into underlying issues that may contribute the eating disorder.
Real change in our eating and life patterns comes about because we change how we feel inside. To do this, we have to learn more about ourselves and how we function - physically.
Listed under 'Related Information' are several information sheets designed by the National Eating Disorders Information Centre. The pronoun 'she' is frequently used in reference to sufferers of eating disorders, but in no way is meant to exclude the experience and issues of any men and boys also afflicted. The same information applies and is meant for them as well. Treatment is provided at Our Eating Disorder Clinic for both men and women.
