An Academic Health Sciences Centre
Located in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia, the QEII is the largest adult academic health sciences centre in Atlantic Canada. It was created in 1996 with the merger of Victoria General Hospital, Halifax Infirmary, Abbie J. Lane Memorial, Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial, Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre and the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre.
The QEII is made up of 10 buildings located on two sites, the Halifax Infirmary site and the Victoria General site.

In addition to providing care to tens of thousands of Atlantic Canadians each year, the QEII is a centre of excellence in health research.
Affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Professions at Dalhousie University, the QEII is the largest teaching hospital in Atlantic Canada with more than 1,500 learners within the healthcare complex. The QEII is accredited by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation.
Expertise recognized across the Maritimes
If you need to be referred for specialized care, and you're an adult from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or New Brunswick, you will likely come to the QEII. Working closely with health care providers in the community, other local hospitals and health care education programs, the QEII also provides general hospital services for the residents of Capital Health.
The QEII Foundation - The Fundraising Arm of the QEII
The QEII Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization established to strengthen the QEII's ability to provide health care of the highest quality across Atlantic Canada.
Maintaining a Healthy Environment
The QEII is dedicated to protecting and improving the health of individuals and communities. Tobacco use is not be permitted in Capital Health acute care facilities or on any Capital Health properties or grounds.
Tobacco use will be permitted in designated, ventilated spaces for residents of long term care facilities and in-patients in psychiatric facilities, as allowed in Nova Scotia's Smoke-Free Places Act (Act No. 125). These facilities include the Veteran's Memorial and Abbie J. Lane Buildings at the QEII Health Sciences Centre.
The use of scented products causes allergic reactions in many people, so please do not wear or use scented products such as perfume, aftershave, hairspray or lotions during your stay at the QEII, and please ask your visitors to do the same.
