Capital Health is Nova Scotia's largest provider of health services. We operate hospitals, health centres and community-based programs throughout Halifax Regional Municipality and the western part of Hants County. We are 11,000 employees, physicians, learners, and volunteers providing medical and surgical care, mental health care, community health programs, addiction prevention and treatment, and environmental health services.

As an academic district we help educate tomorrow's health care providers and administrators and we engage in research into new treatments, cures, processes and practices. With an operating budget of almost $800 million, we serve the 400,000 residents of the district and provide specialist services to the rest of Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada. 

Capital Health also encompasses seven volunteer Community Health Boards that encourage public participation in health planning and advise Capital Health through the development of community health plans.
