Mobile Outreach Street Health

Health care delivered where you are.

Mobile Outreach Street Health (MOSH)  provides accessible primary health care services for people who are homeless, insecurely housed, street involved or underserved in our community. Accessing the health care system can be difficult, or even impossible, for the many people who are living on the margins of our communities.

A number of shelters and organizations provide space for regular visits of the outreach team and promote its health services. This enables the team to meet clients 'where they are' providing primary care in community locations and on the streets of Halifax and Dartmouth where clients are most comfortable and also providing care strategies that are adapted to meet the current life situations of each client. 

The program has three objectives:

• To increase access to effective and equitable primary health care for community members across the life span who are homeless, street involved, or insecurely
  housed.
• To improve the health status of marginalized and underserved populations.
• To create a collaborative environment in which information, knowledge and resources are shared among community service, health care, academic and
  government organizations.

MOSH is an initiative of the North End Community Health Centre, supported by Primary Health Care at Capital Health.  It is an important step in providing more equitable health care for people who are homeless, insecurely housed,or who work on the street.
